Most people know my author tagline is “Gentle stories of hope.” I didn’t come up with that myself–a friend of mine who read each of my unpublished manuscripts (bless her heart!) made the comment, “All of your stories are so gently told, and they all include a strong element of hope.” My heart sang at her comment, because injecting elements of hope was, and continues to be, my goal.
All of us have heard the age-old admission, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” Many times we speak these saying without taking the time to really think about what they mean. This past week, my husband and I encountered some difficulty with a vehicle we’d purchased. I think it’s fair to say when money is involved, things can get stressful quickly. Both of us were extremely frustrated and emotions were high. In fact, I found myself repetitively about two breaths away from tears.

Leslie is the award-winning author of fifteen novels, including the #1 bestseller The Amish Midwife (CBA and ECPA), co-written with Mindy Starns Clark. It’s a pretty well-known fact that the Amish are excellent quilters. But when you stop to think about it, that fact seems a little bit odd, doesn’t it? The Amish are a people who emphasize living plain, and yet they create these extravagant, gorgeous quilts. Why is this?
