    Greg Haller says:

Love the title of the book, as well as your email statement about a bit of a chill and crispness in the air. My wife and I live in a town called Coon Rapids, MN. This morning we had 32 degrees, beautiful fall colors nearing peak, and a chill, that while not a winter chill, gave you that thrilling feeling of snow to come, in the very near future. I leave for work about 2:30 am, and even at that time, this morning frost was covering everything outside, from vehicles to lawns. The air was crisp, and while many people feel it’s the end of summer, it’s so much more. It’s the beginning of a new season of magic. Frost painting images on your windows, lawns and everything outside. Darkness coming sooner, increasing the warmth and comfort of being inside, looking out at the changes going on outside, but driving you to be out there experiencing that change. Deer begin to move, birds begin to migrate, trees give up their green and blaze into colors from a pallet that you couldn’t ever really duplicate. life begins to rest for another season yet to come for a total rebirth in the spring. When you walk outside, you don’t feel the cold in a normal way. You feel that cold as a new source of energy that the heat and humidity of summer took away from you. You feel alive. Every nerve sings from the cold, and suddenly all the things you didn’t care to do during the summer, you suddenly want to do. That for me, living in Minnesota, but having come from northwestern Wisconsin, is what fall is and promises, and what it’s always been. I truly hope that feeling stays for the rest of my life as I don’t believe I would have that completeness without it.

I love the cover of this book. Makes me think of some of my Christmas’s in the past. Makes me think of “gentleness”. What a pretty ornament. My mom’s nickname from all of her grandchildren was “Rainbow Grandma” She loved all colors and it showed in her life and everyone and everything she came in contact with.
