This contest is now closed. THANK YOU to everyone who entered and made having this contest so much fun! Stay tuned for another contest starting up soon! The winner of the Amish-made wall hanging is Jennifer Caudle! Congrats, Jennifer!

I hope you’ll help me check out my new Facebook “Like” button for my blog entries. If you will, please click on “Like” at the bottom of this post, right under the words “Post a Comment.” Let’s find out together how this little button interacts with Facebook and my site. If it works as I hope it, we’ll have a new and easier way to do “big item” giveaways!

Also, be sure to leave a comment below for a chance to win an Amish-made wall hanging. (For Facebook and Amazon readers, you’ll need to hop over to my Web site and leave a comment–www.cindywoodsmall.com)

Last night I was looking through the many images I have stored on my computer of my trips to Amish country. As you can imagine, I can’t post most of them, but I found some that I think you’ll enjoy.

If you’re familiar with my books, you’ve probably read about a gas-powered pole lamp on wheels.
This picture should make the image much clearer in your mind. It’s a propane tank like we use in our gas grills, and that light gives off a lot of heat, which feels great in cool weather and adds to the heat when doing chores or reading after sunset in summertime. Excellently placed windows are a must for Old Order Amish
for optimal breezes in hot weather and light streaming in year round.

A treadal or foot-pedal sewing machine.
Its spot in front of the window
is very helpful, if not necessary since everyone’s clothes
are homemade and the Old Order Amish live without electric lights.

For a chance to win this Amish-made wall hanging, leave a comment below.
The drawing will take place on Thanksgiving Day!
The wall hanging is a wonderful size, not too big and not too small.
It is 21 inches by 21 inches.
