Winner of and new contest
We have a winner of the Amish-made washboard with the quilt patch, and an autographed book of When the Morning Comes.
Our winner: Diana of Hanover, Pennsylvania
Thank you to everyone who participated!
Congratulations, Diana! The items will be placed in the mail later this week. The first part of this week I’ll write my third newsletter so it can be sent to Gayle Desalles, my e-zine virtual assistant. If you aren’t signed up for the newsletter, I encourage you to do so. It’s free, only goes out four times a year, and shares a lot of things I think you’ll enjoy ~ from how I connected with the Old Order Amish, a few tidbits about life inside an Amish home, Amish recipes, and special contests.
To sign up, click here: Plain News Newsletter (After you sign up, you’ll receive a welcome letter with a link to the previous newsletters.)
In the upcoming June newsletter:
Sneak peek ~ chapter one of When the Soul Mends
Part two of Connecting to the Old Order Amish Community
Chance to win an autographed copy of all three books in Sisters of the Quilt series
A tidbit on using a reel mower from an Old Order Amish friend
A few words from guest author Tamera Alexander
And some good reads shared by my editor Shannon [Hill] Marchese
Now on to other fun stuff: how about a week long contest with a chance to win a novel that’s not yet in print: WHEN THE SOUL MENDS

Leave a comment and you’re entered. I’ll send the winner an autographed copy of When the Soul Mends close to its release date.

I have read both of your books and have really enjoyed reading them. I just want to keep reading and can not wait to read your third book. To find out what happens.

I’m so excited for the new book!!! I’m a SAHM mom who once LOVED to read, but after nursing school I hated it. I picked up one christian book and loved it, then my husband, a LifeWay Christian stores manager picked up When the Heart Cries for me. I had never read about the Amish before but grew up around the Amish in Ohio. I WAS HOOKED! I just came here to see when the next one would be out. I’m on pg 191 of the second book and upset I’ll have to wait so long to read the next one!
June 9th, 2008 at 8:13 am
I loved your first book and am looking for your second. I was so moved, I couldn’t put the book down. I love books about Amish. Thank you for a wonderful read.
June 9th, 2008 at 8:17 am
After reading both books can’t wait what is going to happen next, and have a good time reading the third one.

Cindy ~ Just stopped by to see if a third book is forthcoming and was pleased to see that one is on the way ~ can’t wait to read it!
June 9th, 2008 at 8:54 am
I actually received _When the Morning Comes_ by mistake from Amazon. I had ordered a book about making butter and cheese! Anyhow, I carved out time to do something I rarely get to do–read a fun novel! And boy was it fun! I am here looking for the next book in the series and also checking out the first one. Thanks for a fantastic read!
June 9th, 2008 at 9:49 am
I just finished reading your other books, and I absolutely loved them. The only problem I have with them is the cliff hanger ending! I finished When the Morning Comes, all excited to find out what happens with Hannah and Martin, only to realize that the third book has yet to be released! It’s driving me crazy!
June 9th, 2008 at 12:17 pm
Wow. I am so excited to have discovered your books! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. Thank you so much for writing good, clean, interesting novels. I look forward to many more to come!
June 9th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Cindy,
I love your books, I have read several Amish based books by a few different writers and yours are by far the best. It says a lot when a writer can keep her audiance intriged for 2 years!! I look forward to your books in the future.
June 9th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Oh, I just can’t wait for this book. I read the first two books in hours and passed them on to a friend who did the same! Patience is a virtue… Patience is a virtue…

I’ve read both of your books and have been looking for the next one every time I’m at the Christian Book Store. Some of our furniture was made by the Amish when we lived in Ohio so I’m very interested in reading books about them.

I am so excited about the release of your next book in September. I love Christian fiction. In fact, I was in the middle of reading one of Karen Kingsbury’s latest releases and I stopped in the middle just to be able to read “When the Heart Cries.” I think they would make a great movie series. Please keep writing for God!!
June 11th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
I’m so excited about your 3rd book coming out. My family has to eat take-out once I start reading one of your books, because all I do is read, read, read! Just can’t put them down! Thank you so much for writing such heartwarming Christian novels.
God Bless you.

I love these books! I read “When the Heart Cries” as soon as it came out, waited a year and then bought “When the Morning Comes”. I didn’t get to read it until this week because I have been in graduate school, so I came to your website as soon as I finished to see when the next one is coming out. I can’t wait to find out what Hannah decides to do! I know some say they hope she goes back to Paul, which I hoped mostly through the book, but after finishing it, I hope she definitely goes back to Martin. Thanks for the great books!

Hi! My name is Hannah Turner and I’m 16 years old. I love the story of Hannah Lapp/Lawson. I live near an Amish community and read a lot of Amish fiction to learn about them. This series is pretty much my favorite. I cannot wait to read the next book. When I read these books, a few songs came to mind that really, I think, explain what Hannah was feeling. Like BarlowGirl’s “Here’s My Life” and “I Believe in Love”. And when Zabeth passed away, I heard Matthew West’s “Save a Place for Me”. Anyways, great job, Cindy Woodsmall, I love your books.:)

Since I work at an elementary school September is sometimes bittersweet. I enjoy being home with my daughters over the summer, so the release of “When the Soul Mends” will be a great back to school read.I’m looking forward to continuing with Hannah’s story.

I am almost finished with When the Morning Comes. I came to the web site and can’t wait till Sept. to read the next book. I have read many books about the plain lately, while I have been unemployed and have become a big fan. I have a very hard time putting your books down. I love Hannah and Martin, but I also love Paul. I am torn as to who I hope she ends up with. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Matthew, Luke and Mary, and Sarah. I feel as though I know all your characters. I can’t wait till September. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

I want to thank you for writing such wonderful books. I stumbled accross “When the Heart Cries” accidently. My husband and I are over the road truck drivers and I was wanting something to read to break up the time of driving, crocheting, and taking care of our 2 poodles on the truck. I hadn’t had a chance to read a book in a long time and I stumbled across this book at a truck stop. I now have ordered the other 2 books and await thier arrival. God has truely given you a talent that you gladly share with others. Thank you.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading each of your books and am looking forward to #3 of the series. You might be interested to know that I was raised in the Mennonite Church, have Amish relatives, and am personally acquainted with an Amish family in Lancaster County, PA. It is wonderful to read about their culture in a very intertaining, informative manner and to add to my knowledge of the Amish, particularly concerning their unique Pennsylvania Dutch language. It has been my pleasure to share my copies with a sister who rarely reads but is “hooked” on the series too and, like me, can’t wait for the #3 book to be made available in September. As an avid reader–and avid quilter–I look forward to more and more books from Cindy W., hoping to see more info on the quilting and sewing activities for which the Amish are famous.

I loved the first 2 books. They were wonderful. I read the 2nd while I was on vacation and soon as I returned home. I was on the computer trying to find out the name of the next book. I can’t wait till Sept. 16th. I hope they just keep continuing. Thank You!!

I am so glad I found another author who writes about the Amish. I have really enjoyed Cindy’s book When the Heart Cries. I cannot put it down. Infact I am almost finished with it and have the second one on reserve at the bookstore. Keep writing these interesting books.
